If you're looking for your next favorite treat, check out these all natural, single-ingredient dog treats!
Anyone that knows me knows that I’m always on the hunt for natural dog chews. I decided to go one better and create a list of ten natural single ingredient dog treats. If you’re looking for something to change up your treat rotation or are simply curious about what else is out there besides dog food, this article is for you! (How you get your hooman to buy these for you is a whole different story.)
*Note: these are not ranked in any particular order.*
1. Bully Sticks for Dogs
These are the best! Bully Sticks are made from 100% beef pizzle, are high in protein, and even aid dental health as you chew. These are perfect for any dog that wants an all natural, single-ingredient (tasty) treat. Bully Sticks can also be straight, braided, shaped, skinny, mini, extra long, or extra thick! Which means that you’re bound to find one that is perfect for you. My hooman likes to give me a Braided Bully Stick when we’re in for a long car ride to our favorite camping spot and she doesn’t like me giving her the puppy dog eyes to pull over and play all the time.

2. Single Ingredient Jerky for Dogs
Tough chews are great for the dog that goes through their tasty treats a little too fast and the hooman that is tired of their dog’s “Vanishing Treat” magic act. Jerky helps keep you busy due to it’s tough texture and aids dental health through the mechanical action of chewing the hard treat. It is important to remember that not all dog jerky is single ingredient! That does not, by any means, suggest that you will love them any less. But, since you’re here looking for natural, single-ingredient dog treats, here are some options: Pawstruck Esophagus Straps, Pawstruck Beef Straps, or Redbarn Barky Bark.
3. All Natural Animal Ears
As with many other all-natural dog chews, animal ears are completely digestible and contain no preservatives or artificial ingredients. Animal ears for dogs can include Cow Ears, Lamb Ears, and Pig Ears (Sliced, Puffed, or Smoked). They’re all great options if you’re looking to change up your usual rawhide treat and the Cow Ears and Lamb Ears are a good low-fat alternative to Pig Ears (for the dog that’s watching their figure). I personally prefer the Lamb Ears because they’re a low-fat alternative to pig and cow ears, but that’s just me!
4. Cow Hooves
It may sound odd for your hooman, and maybe even for you, but these are actually a pretty tasty natural chew. They’re long lasting, never contain any hormones or chemicals, and Cow Hooves even help scrape plaque and tartar off your teeth as you chew. I personally enjoy the Pawstruck brand because they’re made in the USA, come from free-range and grass-fed cows, and are always thoroughly cleaned and roasted (leaving it with a tasty flavor). Sometimes, after a long day of hiking, my hooman will give me one that she’s filled with peanut butter!
5. Bull Horns
These are also a great natural chew that you’ll probably be surprised you enjoy so much! They’re similar to Cow Hooves in that they aid dental health as you chew and are long lasting, but their taste is different. They’re all still cleaned and trimmed, but the baking process that Pawstruck puts them through does something that just makes them taste amazing! I’ve told my hooman that I prefer to have Bull Horns from grass-fed, free-range cattle, so she tends to buy from Pawstruck here. Your hooman can also fill these treats to make them a little extra special!
6. Pig Snouts
I know, I know, snouts? Yes, snouts! Pigs give us more than just tasty, tasty bacon. Pig Snouts are surprisingly yummy and completely digestible. If you need help convincing your hooman to buy them for you, tell them how Pig Snouts help clean teeth and massage your gums as you chew! There are many options out there for your hooman to get these for you, but I personally prefer Pawstruck because I know that my hooman is getting me a deliciously slow roasted, made in the USA treat with no preservatives.
Similar to Bully Sticks, Antlers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They can be Medium, Large, XL, or Jumbo and come as Solid or Split/Center Cut. These are amazing, long lasting treats that are sure to delight the puppy in you (back when you were cute enough to get away with chewing your hooman’s shoes). As with most hard natural dog chews, antlers aid dental health by scraping off plaque and tartar build up as you chew. There are many places your hooman can get these on the internet, I like Pawstruck though. Why? Their antlers are naturally shed from elk and deer, they’re odorless (which my hooman loves), and they’re clean. My personal favorite is the Split Antler Dog Chew (Jumbo) because I love chewing on the marrow and well…I love chewing.
8. White Dog Bones
Dogs and bones have gone together since as long as I can remember, which I think is a really long time. It would be a shame to go through this list of natural single ingredient dog treats and not mention this timeless classic. White Dog Bones are great to chew on for hours without staining your hooman’s carpet and help maintain your beautiful pearly whites as you chew! I’m definitely a fan of chewing and these are also great for long car rides or when my hooman wants to watch her “Netflix”. In looking for quality natural chews, my hooman and I trust Pawstruck because their bones are made in the USA, all natural beef bones, and have no additives. Hooman says that these can be filled too, but I think they taste great as is! For those that want to show their hooman some options: Small, Large, Knuckle
9. Meaty Dog Bones
For those that prefer a little meat on their bones (get it? my hooman said it would be funny), Meaty Dog Bones are a thing that exist in the world. What is a “Meaty Dog Bone”? It’s exactly what you would think, a bone with a meaty coating. This is another long lasting treat that also helps clean your teeth and gums as you chew. What’s the difference then? The flavor of course! At least at Pawstruck, their made in the USA Meaty Dog Bones are made from all-natural femur bone that is slow roasted to lock in the best flavor. I would paws down, 10/10 recommend for any canine looking for their next favorite treat. There are also Knee Cap Dog Bones and Meaty Knuckle Dog Bones for dogs that are looking for a “unique” treat. At least, that’s what Lupo called them, he said something about femur bones being a thicker-walled bone? I stopped listening after it wasn’t about anything athletic. Whoops!
